5 Healthy Drinks For Summer Season

When it comes to drinks, you need not gulp unhealthy and acidic drinks always. Excess consumption of these drinks like carbonated drinks, tea, coffee, alcohol is not good for overall health as they contain lots of unhealthy elements and are high on calorie meter.

During summers, thirst quenching and invigorating drinks work well. These drinks are healthy in nature and have very few calories, making them idle for summers when digestion slows down and light meals are ideal.



Buttermilk is made from thinning yogurt. It makes a very healthy drink as it is cool in nature, aids digestion, have very low calories and does not raise blood sugar levels abruptly. In a mixer, mix a cup of fat free yogurt with three cups of water and blend well. Add common salt and roasted cumin powder for a tasty zing. You can drink buttermilk 2-3 times a day. Sipping on buttermilk with lunch helps in quick digestion of food.

Lemon Water

Loaded with vitamin C, a very important antioxidant and nourishing vitamin, lemon water can make your cheeks glow even when the heat is all inclined to burn your rosy complexion. Squeeze a lemon in a glass of water and mix in it a pinch of rock salt and black salt. I will advise you to drink lemon water without sugar but for taste you can add sugar also. Garnish your glass of this healthy drink with some mint leaves and sip on in style. Drinking plain lemon water (without sugar and salt) as first thing in the morning helps detoxify liver and lose fat fast.

Barley Water

Another traditional healthy drink, barley water offers many benefits. It helps in lowering cholesterol levels, is diuretic in nature making it a great home remedy for people suffering from Urinary Tract Infection, Helps in controlling water retention, has cooling properties and helps in keeping kidneys free of toxins. Take a tablespoon of soaked barleys and boil it in a liter of water. Reduce it to half and cool down. Add some lemon juice and roasted cumin powder and rock salt for taste. You can drink 2-3 glasses of barley water during summers..

Mango Panna

Quite refreshing and tangy in taste mango panna has always been on traditional Indian platter as an appetizer during summers. For making this drink you need to have half kilo raw mangoes, a tea spoon of roasted and powdered cumin seeds, rock salt, black salt for taste and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Pressures cook the mangoes and take pulp out. Mix in it a liter of water and rest of the ingredients. Store in a glass bottle in fridge. For making the drink, add a tablespoon of panna with a glass of water.
