Tom Collins Cocktail Recipe

Level Of Difficulty: Easy Time For Preparation: 5 Minutes (Additional Type For Making Sugar Syrup)

Ingredients

1 ½ oz. Dry gin 1 teaspoon lemon juice (freshly squeezed) Club soda ¼ cup sugar ¼ cup water 1 lemon slice Ice Cubes

Method For Preparation

The first step in making an awesome Tom Collins cocktail is to make the sugar syrup. Although you can purchase sugar syrup from a store, it is quite simple to make sugar syrup at home. In a medium-sized saucepan, add the sugar and water and heat is over a low flame. Shake the pan occasionally, but make sure that you do not stir the mixture. Once the sugar dissolves, turn the heat to medium and then let it simmer for 10-12 minutes. Once the sugar mixture reaches a syrupy consistency, remove mixture from the flame and let it cool completely. You can pop the sugar syrup into the refrigerator for this.

In a cocktail shaker, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, dry gin and two tablespoons of the sugar syrup. Add a few ice cubes to the shaker and give it a good shake so that all the ingredients of the cocktail combine well. Take a Collins glass or any long glass and strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into the glass. Add ice cubes and top the glass with club soda and give it a quick stir. Garnish the cocktail with a Maraschino cherry and a slice of lemon.
