Pancake is a thin and crispy cake prepared with a batter of egg and flour. The fluffy pancakes can be served as a perfect evening snack. Pancakes are usually available in a variety of flavours.
They can be made simply at home with few ingredients. The mouth-watering pancakes are enjoyed by both children and adults alike.
Simple Pancake
This traditional pancake is crispy and sweet. The rich flavour of ghee enhances the taste of the pancake and makes it absolutely tempting.
Ingredients
Flour- 100 grams Milk- 100 ml Egg- 1 Salt- ½ teaspoon Honey- As required Ghee- For frying
Method Of Preparation
Add a pinch of salt to the flour and mix together properly.
Pour the milk into a big bowl. Add the egg and stir the mixture till it reaches uniform consistency. Now add the flour to the milk mixture and keep on mixing it for few minutes. Prepare a thick batter with the milk and flour mixture. You can also add little water if the batter gets too thick.
Now place a frying pan on the flame. Add 1 teaspoon ghee and let it heat for few seconds. Now pour one big spoon of batter into the ghee and spread it like an omelette. Allow it to fry for 1 minute. Now gently turn the pancake with the help of a wooden spatula and fry the other side. Follow the same procedure for all the pancakes.
Roll the pancakes like a dosa and pour some honey on top. Let them cool down completely. The delicious pancakes are ready to be eaten.
Vegetable Pancake
This pancake has a spicy and salty flavour. The filling is prepared with vegetables and several aromatic spices.
Ingredients For The Pancake
Flour- 20 grams Egg- 1 Water- As required Corn flour- 20 grams Salt- To taste Refined oil- For frying
Ingredients For The Stuffing
Potato- 3 Garlic paste- ½ teaspoon Ginger paste- ½ teaspoon Onion- 2 Tomato- 1 (small) Cardamom- 2 Cinnamon- 1 Red chilli powder- ¼ teaspoon Chopped green chilli- 1 Refined oil- 3 tablespoons Chopped coriander leaves- 1 teaspoon Ghee- For frying
Method Of Preparation
Take a big bowl and add the flour, corn flour, water and salt. Mix all the ingredients properly for 1-2 minutes. Next add the egg and keep stirring the mixture continuously. Add little water to prepare a thin batter.
Put a frying pan on the flame and add adequate amount of refined oil. Let the oil heat for 30 seconds. Now pour little quantities of batter into the oil with the help of a big spoon. Spread the pancake like a small dosa. Fry both sides properly and put the pancake in a big plate. Keep the plate aside.
Chop the onions and tomato into very small pieces. Place a small pan on the flame. Add the cinnamon and cardamoms and fry them for 2 minutes. Now put the spices into the mixer and prepare a fine garam masala powder.
Boil the potatoes and peel off the skin. Now mash the potatoes very nicely with the help of your hands.
Put a frying pan on the flame. Add little refined oil and let it heat for 15-20 seconds. Add the onions and fry until they turn light golden brown. Now add the garlic paste, ginger paste, red chillies, tomato slices, red chilli powder and chopped green chillies. Fry the ingredients for 2-3 minutes and then add the mashed potatoes. Fry the potatoes for 2 minutes. Now sprinkle the garam masala powder and chopped coriander leaves on top. Turn off the flame. The stuffing is now ready.
Take little stuffing and put it in the middle of the pancake. Roll the pancakes and seal both the sides of the pancakes.
Pour the ghee into the frying pan and let it heat. Now put the pancakes one by one into the ghee and fry till they turn golden and crisp. Serve hot with tomato sauce.
