Kahlua is a rum based coffee flavored liqueur which is manufactured and exported from Mexico. This liqueur has a very rich coffee flavor and a distinct dark brown color which helps to add a very unique color to famous drinks like mudslide, mind eraser and the Black Russian cocktail.

Kahlua was first produced in 1936 by Pernod Ricard, with a total alcohol content of 26.5% but since 2004, it has been reduced to 20%. Kahlua has become one of the most famous flavored liqueurs since its inception and now it is used as the most vital ingredient in some of the very famous drinks like the ones stated below.

Mudslide

Ingredients

2 oz. of Vodka 1 oz. of Kahlua 1 oz. of Irish cream

Tools

1 bar strainer 1 cocktail shaker 1 rocks glass 1 jigger

Mixing Procedure

  1. Place a rocks glass on your counter and fill it up to the top with ice cubes. After that, drop some ice cubes into a cocktail shaker and then keep it aside. Then measure out the vodka and pour the required amounts of it into the cocktail shaker.

  2. Similarly, measure out the required amounts of Irish cream and Kahlua and pour them over the ice cubes. Now close the lid of the cocktail shaker and give a nice shake to the mixture to blend it. Once done, strain the mudslide into the rocks glass filled with ice cubes and serve.

Apache Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz. of Kahlua 1 oz. of Irish cream 1 oz. of melon liqueur

Tools

1 shooter glass 1 jigger

Mixing Procedure

  1. Use a jigger to measure the amounts of Kahlua, melon liqueur and Irish cream. Then fetch a shooter glass and fill it up by pouring the required amounts of Kahlua, melon liqueur and Irish cream consecutively.

Mind Eraser Cocktail

Ingredients

2 oz. of Kahlua 2 oz. of Vodka 2 oz. of club soda

Tools

1 rocks glass 1 ice tong 1 jigger

Mixing Procedure

  1. Fetch a rocks glass and fill it right up to the rim with ice cubes. Once done, pour the Vodka into a jigger and measure out 2 oz. of it. Pour the Vodka into the glass and then pour the Kahlua by measuring it in the same way. Lastly, measure out equal amount of club soda and pour it into the glass. Once done, insert 3-4 small straws into the glass and serve the mind eraser cocktail right away.

Island Rose Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur 1 oz. + ½ oz. of heavy cream 1 oz. of tequila 2/3rd oz. of Chambord raspberry liqueur 1 edible flower

Tools

1 cocktail glass 1 cocktail shaker 1 strainer 1 jigger

Mixing Procedure

  1. Prepare a cocktail glass for serving the drink by popping it into the refrigerator. Wait until the glass is chilled and in the meantime, drop 5-6 ice cubes into a cocktail shaker and then pour 1 oz. of tequila, 1 ½ oz. of heavy cream, 1 oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur and 2/3rd oz. of raspberry liqueur over the ice cubes.

  2. Once done, put on the lid of the shaker and then shake it vigorously until the outside of the shaker turns misty. Once done, take out the chilled cocktail glass from the refrigerator and strain the drink into it. Finally, drop an edible flower over the drink to garnish it.

Black Russian Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur 2 oz. of Russian Vodka 1 whole maraschino cherry with stem, for garnishing

1 bar spoon 1 rocks glass 1 jigger 1 ice tong

Mixing Procedure

  1. Put 5-6 ice cubes into a rocks glass and then set it aside. Now fetch a jigger and measure out 2 oz. of Vodka with it. Pour the Vodka into the ice-filled glass and then follow that by pouring the required amounts of Kahlua coffee liqueur. Once done, stir the mixture lightly with a bar spoon and then serve it on the rocks with a fresh maraschino cherry on top.

Cara Sposa Cocktail

Ingredients

2 oz. of Orange Curacao liqueur 2 oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur 1 oz. of whipping cream

Tools

1 Boston shaker 1 champagne glass 1 jigger 1 ice tong 1 bar strainer

Mixing Procedure

  1. Fill up the tin part of a Boston shaker with 5-6 ice cubes and then set it aside. After that, take a champagne glass and throw some ice cubes in that as well. Now take the other part of the Boston shaker and pour the Orange Curacao, Kahlua coffee liqueur and the whipping cream into that after measuring them out with a jigger.

  2. Now place a bar strainer over the ice filled tin part of the shaker and tilt it to discard the excess water from it. Then carefully invert the other part of the shaker which is containing the mixture over the tin part. Shake up the drink nicely for a few seconds and then set it aside. Now discard all the ice cubes from the champagne glass and strain the prepared drink into it for serving.

Cucacaracha Shot

Ingredients

½ oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur ½ oz. of Vodka ½ oz. of Silver Tequila

1 shot glass 1 jigger

Mixing Procedure

  1. Use a jigger to measure the required amounts of each of the ingredients and then pour them one by one into a shot glass. Maintain a slow pace while pouring each ingredient and make sure that you pour them from one side of the glass to create the layers of liqueurs.

  2. Once done, hold a flame near the drink and light it. Then immediately insert a straw right up to the bottom of the glass and take the shot at once before the straw burns.

Velvet Hammer Cocktail

Ingredients

1 oz. of Kahlua coffee liqueur 1 oz. of Triple Sec 1 oz. of Half and Half or light cream

Tools

1 Boston shaker 1 cocktail glass 1 strainer 1 ice spade

Mixing Procedure

  1. Fill up a cocktail glass with ice cubes to keep it chilled until you are ready to serve the drink into it. Then take a cocktail shaker and drop 6-7 ice cubes into the tin part of it with the help of an ice spade. After that take a jigger and measure out all the required ingredients with it.

  2. Pour the measured ingredients into the other part of the Boston shaker and then invert that part over the tin part. Give a thump to the top part of the shaker to secure it tightly with the other part and then shake it until the drink turns very cold. Now discard all the ice from the cocktail glass and strain the cocktail directly into it.
