Alcoholic beverages are fermented drinks that contain ethanol. They are consumed all over the world. Alcohol is available almost in every country and city of the world. After water and tea beer is the third most popular drink all over the world. There are three general classes in which alcohol beverages can be classified.

Sprits or distilled beverages, wines and beers. Sugar in fruits, grains, berries and others are fermented to make alcoholic beverages. Wines are made by fermenting grapes and other fruits like apple, berries, cherries and plums. Generally wines contain 8 to 14 percent of alcohol. Beer is made from malt, corn, and rice. The alcoholic content ranges from 2 percent to 8.

In cold countries people consume alcohol especially rum or vodka to keep their bodies warm. Alcohol is a quickly absorbed source of food energy. Some of the most popular cocktail recipes are given below.

Ingredients

1 small shot or ½ oz shot Irish cream 1 small shot or ½ oz shot of Coffee liqueur 1 small shot or ½ oz of Amaretto

Method

  1. Take a small glass and put some crushed ice into it.

  2. Mix all the three drinks, Irish cream, coffee liqueur and Amaretto in the small glass.

  3. Strain it in a shot glass and serve. This drink is to be consumed in one shot.

  4. Another way to prepare this drink is pour drinks one by one forming layers in the glass. First pour the coffee liqueur, then Irish cream and top it up with Amaretto. You can also use Grand Marnier instead of Amaretto.

Silk Panties

Ingredients

30 ml or 1 ½ oz of Vodka 15 ml or ½ oz of Peach Schnapps Crushed ice Cocktail shaker 1 shot glass

Method

  1. In a cocktail shaker take some crushed ice.

  2. Pour vodka and peach schnapps into it and shake well.

  3. Strain it into a shot glass and serve. This drink is to be consumed in one shot.

Bronx

This drink is a concoction of gin, vermouth and orange juice and liked in every part of the world.

Ingredients

100 ml orange juice 30 ml gin 30 ml dark vermouth 30 ml vermouth Crushed ice Cocktail shaker High ball glass or hurricane glass Slice of orange to garnish

Method

  1. Fill cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Pour orange juice, gin and vermouth.

  2. Shake well and strain the drink into a high ball glass or hurricane glass. If you prefer your drink very chill, you can put some crushed ice into your glass.

  3. Garnish it with a slice of orange and enjoy on a cozy Sunday afternoon.

Jack And Jill

Ingredients

30 ml Jack Daniels 1 can Ginger Ale 2 dash of lime juice 1 dash Grenadine Crushed ice Cocktail shaker Lime wedges for garnish 1 high ball glass

Method

  1. Fill the cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Pour Ginger ale, Jack Daniels and dash of lime juice and 1 dash of grenadine into the shaker. If you like it sweet you can add more grenadine.

  2. Shake well. Now take a high ball glass. Rub the rim of the glass with lime. Turn the glass upside down on a flat dish containing salt. By doing this you will get a salt rim.

  3. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Strain the drink into the glass and garnish it with lemon wedges. Serve with some nice hot and crunchy starters.
